After launching Amazon Flex successfully in 6 nations including USA, Spain, Germany, UK, Singapore and Japan, Amazon has now earmarked India to enhance its delivery service. This is set to create employment opportunities for individuals to work part- time and deliver packages for Amazon, earning Rs. 120-140 per hour.
The service has started operations in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore so as to further reduce the time that is guaranteed by Amazon with its Prime and Prime Now services.
The e-commerce giant is targeting the likes of students, homemakers and retired professionals among others, in an attempt to help them receive decent remuneration in their spare time and also lessen the pressure on their current network of delivery partners during the peak seasons. Those wanting to sign for this can currently choose the day and time, up to a maximum of 4 hours a day. In a week, a delivery partner can deliver for approximately 25-30 hours under Flex.
“While we continue to scale our existing delivery capabilities across the country, Amazon Flex will enable Amazon to continue growing our capacity to serve more customers and speed up deliveries,” commented Akhil Saxena, Vice President – Asia Customer Fulfilment, Amazon.
The new recruits will be subjected to a thorough background check and will receive hands-on training before starting out. Any individual who wishes to be a part of the programme will have to fulfil criteria like being over 18 years of age with two-wheelers, holding a valid driver’s licence and PAN card.
