Noida (India)-based sportswear brand Alcis Sports recently opened its first exclusive brand outlet (EBO) in Kochi at LuLu Mall, one of India’s largest shopping malls.
“Around Rs. 50 lakh has been invested for the establishment of the newly opened store. The company now hopes to bring the setup cost down to Rs. 3,000 per sq. ft. as it fully-equipped now. The store size in future is going to be anywhere between 700 and 1,000 sq. ft.,” states Alcis Sports President Anuj Batra.
The flagship store is spread over 1,083 sq. ft. of carpet area and serves as a comprehensive one-stop-shop for the Alcis Sports’ entire range for both men and women. The brand has one of the widest ranges in the performance wear and athleisure segments with specific clothing for running, training, yoga, football and racquet sports.
“As we are trying to chart out a new path for ourselves by opening our first-ever exclusive store, it is an exciting yet challenging phase for us. We are extremely happy that we are starting this journey of having exclusive stores with the city of Kochi, which is known for its culture of sports,” adds Alcis Sports Managing Director Roshan Baid.
The company aims at offering top-notch quality at aggressive price points and is very upbeat about the response that the brand has received so far from consumers.
With its first EBO rolled out, Alcis is now aiming for pan-India exclusive store network and will soon open several more outlets across the country. Apropos the company’s expansion plans, Batra apprises, “Our second exclusive store is slated to open on December 28, 2017, at Phoenix Mall in Mumbai. We are looking at 15 more EBOs by end of this year. These all will be company-owned and company-managed stores. We are also receiving proposals for franchisee outlets and soon we will be venturing into the same.”
The company is also the exclusive licensee for the official fanwear merchandise of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and the new store at Kochi will feature the forthcoming collection.
Currently retailed at 150 shop-in-shops in the large-format stores, including Globus, Shoppers Stop, Sports Station and Central, Alcis is also present in South India with brands like Pothys, Jayalakshmi and RS Brothers.
As per Batra, their countrywide offline footprint covers nearly 700-odd outlets (shop-in-shops). In the coming year, they are looking to increase their spread to Tier II and III cities and towns and expecting that their overall retail strength will cross the 2,000-store mark.
Alcis is also available online at Jabong and Myntra. It recently tied-up with Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm.
