The US-based apparel retailer Macy’s is planning to hire for 86,000 positions this holiday season at its Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, call centres, distribution centres and online fulfilment centres. In 2013, the company hired around 83,000 people during the festive season, marking an increase of 3.6 per cent this year. Most of the seasonal positions are part-time, often with flexibility to fit the availability of the individuals hired by the company. Macy’s said the company strives to serve its customers and their numbers goes up in holiday season, so the hiring of more staff members helps in serving them better.
