Charles Whiteley, the head of the delegation of the European Union (EU) to Bangladesh, has recently underlined there’s no possibility of signing a free trade agreement (FTA) with Bangladesh in the foreseeable future.
Media reports maintained this while adding due to the complexity related to the issue as well as EU’s lack of interest, Charles Whiteley reportedly sees remote chances of inking the Bangladesh-EU FTA.
The EU delegation head reportedly maintained this while addressing an event titled, ‘Strengthening Bangladesh-EU Trade and Economic Cooperation: Issues and Policy Priorities’ even as he opined that signing of the deal is not going to happen because of the degree of complexity, and the trade relations between the two sides are not yet at the stage where he can say, “We would be genuinely interested on the EU side to negotiate an FTA.”
