Australian biomaterials company Nanollose has secured its inaugural purchase order for its environmentally friendly fibre, Nullarbor, marking a significant milestone for the company. The order, placed by Turkish denim manufacturer Orta Anadolu Ticaret Ve Sanayi İşletmesi, includes 340 kilograms of Nanollose’s Nullarbor-20 fibre.
The fibre, produced during Nanollose’s recent third pilot spin in collaboration with Birla Cellulose, a global fibre production company headquartered in India, will be promptly dispatched to Orta. With a substantial annual denim production capacity of 35 million meters, Orta is a key supplier of denim to luxury brands, renowned denim labels, and retail chains, employing approximately 1,500 individuals.
This purchase order stems from an initial partnership agreement between Nanollose and Orta, leading to the integration of Nullarbor-20 fibre into samples of Orta’s denim fabric and jeans. Nanollose’s executive chairman, Dr. Wayne Best, emphasised the significance of this initial order, underscoring the commercial promise of Nullarbor. Dr. Best expressed confidence in the fibre’s potential to drive further demand and revenue growth as it gains traction in the market.
Orta’s client portfolio includes luxury brands like Armani, Alexander McQueen, and Stella McCartney, as well as popular labels such as Levi’s, Lee, Wrangler, Tommy Hilfiger, and H&M. Nanollose anticipates continued collaborations with Orta and other partners as they introduce Nullarbor to an industry seeking sustainable solutions.
