Precot, a prominent player in India’s cotton and yarn manufacturing, headquartered in Coimbatore, accomplished a significant milestone today by becoming a new Corporate Member of The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF). This move aims to bolster India’s presence within the federation.
Christian Schindler, the Director General of ITMF, expressed that welcoming Precot as a Corporate Member enhances India’s representation within the federation. He highlighted the advantages Indian companies receive from a robust domestic market and increasing interest from global sourcing entities. Precot’s decision to join ITMF subsequent to their participation in the ITMF Annual Conference 2023 in China is a promising indication of ITMF’s international platform for global companies. The expectation is that Precot will reap benefits from this membership through direct access to industry-specific information, an expansive international network, and ITMF’s representation of the sector in global forums.
Ashwin Chandran, the Chairman and Managing Director of Precot, emphasised ITMF’s appeal, recognising its representation across the textile value chain, encompassing fibre producers, apparel, home textiles, and technical textiles manufacturers. Access to an international network within the industry provides insights into global dynamics, enabling a broader perspective on the global textile landscape. Chandran highlighted the significance of gaining direct access to information and forging personal connections with industry colleagues worldwide, underscoring the potential for making well-informed decisions.
Established in 1962, Precot is renowned for manufacturing various cotton yarns and threads, including organic, BCI, and conventional cotton, as well as polyester cotton blends suitable for weaving, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
