The British-Irish company Deltaport Ltd. will invest US$36 million to develop an apparel manufacturing facility in the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsarai in Chittagong.
The objective of the company is to manufacture 20 million pieces of protective clothing, workwear, various kinds of garments, PPE, hospital gowns, masks, bed linens, curtains, and other items every year.
The factory will provide employment for 5980 Bangladeshi nationals.
Eastport Ltd., a Cumilla EPZ garment manufacturer that has been operating since 2013, is the parent company of Deltaport Ltd.
According to a press release, the agreement was recently signed at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka by Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Junaid Iqbal Umerani of Deltaport.
ANM Foyzul Haque, a member of finance, Mohammad Faruque Alam, a member of engineering, and Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, the executive chairman of BEPZA, were also present.
