A meeting of textile associations and entrepreneurs was presided over by District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon to talk about ideas to establish new mini-textile parks in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.
In order to boost the textile industry and create more jobs, entrepreneurs and representatives from the Paramakudi — Emaneswaram All Handloom Agents Association, the Paramakudi — Emaneswaram Handloom Traders Association, and several other associations attended the meeting.
Three factories and at least two acres of land were necessary for the creation of a micro textile park, as was discussed during the discussion.
It was mentioned that the textile park’s project report should have three main sections: general facilities, production units, and infrastructure. Proper roads, compound walls, sewage outlet channels, water supplies, lighting, sewage water treatment plants, electrical connections, and communication systems are all considered to be part of infrastructure.
A laboratory, design centre, training facility, trade centre, godown, raw material storage unit, childcare centre, and restaurants should all be considered general facilities.
The meeting determined that the Government should grant subsidies for the establishment of the textile park up to 50 per cent or US $ 0.298 million, whichever is less.
K. Thiruvasagar, the Madurai Regional Deputy Director of the Textile Department, stated that 25 per cent of equipment purchases might be subsidised through the District Industries Centre (DIC). He mentioned that greater employment possibilities and a larger scale development of the industry might be achieved with the establishment of around five micro textile parks in the district.
