The Mayurakshi Cotton Mill in Birbhum will be revitalised and made self-sustaining by the Bengal State Government. The decision was made during the inaugural board meeting, which was held at Circuit House in Bolpur and included a thorough discussion of the revival plan.
The mill is involved in preparation and spinning of cotton fibre including blended cotton. Presently, the mill produces school uniforms.
Chandranath Sinha, the state MSME Minister and Bolpur MLA, mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had set up a committee to revive the Mayurakshi Cotton Mill. The board recently met for the first time to discuss potential strategies for making the mill profitable.
There was also discussion about the potential for creating uniforms for the state’s correctional home inmates.
A board member stated that increasing the mill’s production is essential to boosting employee earnings. The revival proposals will be submitted to the Chief Minister, and necessary actions will be taken based on her guidance.
