
Fashion brand Dorabi has secured a US $ 114,000 (Rs 1 crore) investment from Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal on the television show Shark Tank India. The investment comes in exchange for a 4 per cent equity stake in the company.
Dorabi co-founder Ashima Batra expressed excitement about the overwhelming response following the show’s airing. The entrepreneurial family, consisting of Vinod Batra, Ashima Batra, and Sonia Batra, pitched their business to the Shark Tank India judges, outlining their plans for expansion across various product lines. Initially seeking US $ 86,000 (Rs 75 lakh) for a 3 per cent stake, negotiations led to a joint offer from Gupta and Mittal.
To celebrate the successful deal, Dorabi is offering a 10 per cent discount on its online store. The brand is also participating in the Jalsa fashion exhibition in New Delhi on 27th February .
Dorabi specialises in fusion-style womenswear and sells exclusively through its direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform and recently launched on Myntra Luxe. The brand prides itself on being India’s only 100 per cent hand-dyed apparel label and also operates the minimalist workwear brand Aamili.
