The Alain Broekaert Group (GAB) has acquired nine Belgian Scotch & Soda outlets, including those in Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruges, according to a statement released by Scotch & Soda’s owner, Bluestar Alliance. They will reopen as early as autumn 2024 and carry on as Scotch & Soda outlets.
“We are delighted with this acquisition,” said Alain Broekaert, CEO of GAB. “Scotch & Soda is a brand that resonates with fashion lovers and we see tremendous value in continuing the brand in Belgium. Each of these boutiques has a special place in their city and we are committed to maintaining their iconic presence while infusing them with new energy and innovation.”
Distributing a range of brands, GAB has a long history with Scotch & Soda, having established its Belgian branch and being active with the name in both Belgium and Luxembourg. Thus, the business is recommitting itself to saving the struggling Dutch retailer, building on its May acquisition of Scotch & Soda Retail SAS in France.
Having been established in 1986, GAB served as the authorised distributor and retailer of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger in the BELUX market for over 20 years. The firm sells labels like Pepe Jeans, Love Stories, Karl Lagerfeld, and Clarks in addition to Scotch & Soda.
