
US e-commerce giant Amazon has decided to set up a new fulfilment centre in Clear Brook, Virginia, US which will create more than 1,000 full-time associate roles when opened.
“Our ability to expand in the Commonwealth is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce in the state,” said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s Vice President of North America Operations, adding, “We are excited to grow in support of the more than 85,000 authors, sellers, and developers in Virginia growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Amazon products and services.”
Amazon currently employs more than 3,500 full-time hourly associates at its three existing Virginia fulfilment centres in Chester, Petersburg and Sterling, reads a statement issued by the reailer.

Adding to that, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said, “Amazon has opted for Virginia for its business climate, infrastructure, strong workforce, and global competitiveness, and Amazon’s expansion is a powerful illustration of our ongoing efforts to build a new Virginia economy. We are proud that Amazon will grow its presence in Virginia with this major investment and new operation that will bring more than 1,000 job opportunities to Frederick County and the northern Shenandoah Valley,” added McAuliffe.”
